I really like travelling, with that I don’t mean making holidays. I like to travel around as basic and simple as possible to get a better grasp of a country, the people and their culture. To do this I try to use the same means of transportation local people would use and sometimes do hitch-hiking, couchsurfing etc.

2005:

2006:

  • 6 weeks backpacking in Cambodia and Thailand, eg. staying in a buddhist monastery for a 10 days silent meditation retreat, visiting Angkor Wat
  • 2 weeks backpacking in Croatia

2007:

  • 2 weeks travelling around South Morocco
  • 3 weeks backpacking and hitch-hiking around North Japan, Tohoku, partly following the steps of Matsuo Basho in his famous book about tohoku
  • Various small trips around central Honshu, Japan
  • 2 weeks trip to the Kanto area

2008:

  • 6 week trip starting on Okinawa, going down south visiting various Ryukyu islands, then heading back north to Kyushu and travelling back over land to Yokohama

2009:

  • Various small trips around Europe (Dresden, Prague, Stockholm, Barcelona)
  • Extensive road-trip around Germany
  • 2 months South China, Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Macao, Hong-Kong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan

2010:

  • March/April: Yunnan
  • Jul-Oct: Yunnan
  • Early September: Vietnam

2011:

  • March/April: Yunnan
